Ignoring overs 18 and 20. Death bowlers pick up cheap wickets from slogs. They often cost less than a third premium batter and still print points when the slog starts.
Chasing one 90. Ownership jumps after a headline innings. The next attack and the next pitch may not allow a repeat. We look at a five-game role average, not one outlier.
Skipping the keeper who bats three. Catches and stumpings sit on top of batting points. That dual role often beats a pure batter at the same credit. Check the team page before you spend.
At a 200-run ground, a bowler VC has a thin floor. If the captain fails, the 1.5x sits on the vice-captain. A batter or all-rounder who will face a long stretch usually carries that better than a two-over specialist.
Split the sides. Captain a Team A top-order batter; VC a Team B bowler or all-rounder. If A is 80 for 6, B still has a chase or a defence to play.
